Community Channels

Based on your specific needs, SeniorTV will design and install an in-house TV community channel(s) to work with your existing MATV, wholesale cable TV, or commercial satellite TV system.

Your in-house community channels are added to the existing channel line-up. Residents tune to "The (your facility) Network" to receive the programming such as:

• Text messages and announcements
• Photographs and Clip Art
• Videos and Music
• Weather and RSS feeds
• Live Broadcasts from anywhere on Campus(Chapel, Activity Room, Dining Rooms)
• Video Tapes or DVDs
• Audio Cassette Tapes, AM/FM radio, CD, commercial satellite radio

A Microsoft Windows based PC will operate as your standalone community channel with messages is the around-the-clock default programming, similar to a hotel information channel. Lettering can be big, bright and easy for residents to read. With the Internet connected to your system you have unlimited choices of photographs and clip art to go along with the pictures you have from your own cameras at the facility or even pictures that emailed to you from staff or residents. Pages can play all the time or be scheduled to play on certain days of the week, only between certain hours or only on a certain day of the month. Compared to handwritten marker boards and hard-to-read photocopies, using the TV for changing information is the 21st century solution.

At various times of the day, a DVD can preempt the messages for the "Movie of the Day". With the automated DVD playback system you can schedule DVD's play at any time during any day as far in advance as you want. The DVD playback hardware comes with either 4 or 8 DVD drives that can be scheduled. If your retirement home or assisted living center is interested in showing new releases in addition to your own content then we can provide licensing through the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation. In addition to all of this it is possible to televise live broadcasts of any visiting entertainer, guest speaker, party or bingo game using a video camera plugged into a special outlet(s). With CCRC's, retirment homes, assisted living centers and s a portable unit can be used to broadcast live from anywhere on campus.

When community channel messages are being shown, the background audio can be either AM/FM music, a compact disc, MP3 player, commercial satellite radio or background from audio from a DirecTV channel in your wholesale cable lineup. Best-selling novels, classic books and old-time radio shows are available as MP3's from the Internet and CD from local libraries. Everyday at certain times a book can be "read". Seasonal holiday music may be played. The audio portion of your community / in-house TV channel can be as useful as the video.

Typical uses of community channel messages: Menus, activity schedules, staff recognition, new resident welcomes, and more! Just use your imagination. You can even show photographs of your residents on their birthday!
